Look Around.

Feel free to browse through my portfolio. The contents represents only a sample of my body of work; they are listed below from newest to oldest, dating back to 2007.

N+

N+ is a blog and gaming community for Opera & Nintendo fans which focuses on fun and community interaction. I am a moderator there and am in charge of the design. The website is hosted on My Opera. The design is focused entirely on fun and humor. The layout of the page is intentionally very monochromatic and in some places translucent so the color introduced in the monthly design shows through. The design is extremely friendly, fun, and inviting.

Aside from the design itself I did illustrations for a couple of months' headers, the N+ logo, and other illustrations seen within the page itself such as the Reggie Fils-Aime Opera ad and the Animal Crossing-spoof N+ welcome sign.

Gene Cox Grocery & Meats

Gene Cox Grocery & Meats is a family-owned and operated small grocery store in West Monroe, Louisiana. They specialize in quality meat and prepared food products.

They contacted me to create a one-page informational website for their business. The website uses a custom simple image slideshow script to rotate images; they even use a transitional fade effect if the browser supports it. Illustrations of the building and the envelope for contact information both were part of the project as well.

Blimey!

I created this illustration as a fan art to the British television program, Doctor Who. It's one of my favorite TV shows. I spent several months of bits of my free time to paint this. I didn't do it in particular for anyone or for any purpose. I just started painting it because I felt like it one day. It's always good to do that every once and a while.

Dreams in Motion

Dreams in Motion is a car and truck club located in West Monroe, Louisiana. They customize their vehicles for display at shows in Louisiana, Texas, and Mississippi. They also stage annually a show of their own where all proceeds go to local charities. I was contracted to create their online presence as a way for the increasingly technical savvy show crowd to learn more about them and find out information on the next show if they plan to attend.

The background of the website is fluid -- expanding in size with the width and height of the window -- while the content of it is not. It was quite a challenge to pull that off, especially with complex backgrounds.

Redneck Santa

This is an illustration I did for Christmas cards I sent out during the Christmas season 2008. My intent with it was to give people receiving it something to laugh about and poke fun at where I live in the process. It was the first time I attempted to create my own Christmas cards and will most likely be something I will try and repeat in the future.

Blown Away

This is an illustration I did for N+, and is probably one of the nastiest things I've illustrated in recent memory. It is of Wario -- one of Mario's nemeses -- performing one of his signature moves from Super Smash Bros. Brawl on the Wii. When I started this I wanted to do something very reminiscent of the nasty closeups Bill Wray illustrated for the Ren & Stimpy Show where it's obviously cartooned, yet incredibly detailed especially with details which enhance the gross feeling.

dW

dW is a weblog originally hosted at this location but has since been moved elsewhere on this server to make room for this portfolio. It is a weblog where I talk about anything which is on my mind, but its focus tends to center around web technology and standards. The weblog is also a testbed for technologies I have learned and therefore is on the cutting edge of web technology; it doesn't work in any version of Internet Explorer, even IE 8. The design is rigidly structured around a 24x24 pixel grid and is simply designed so the content is the main focus of the website.
